Car insurance firms ‘do all they can to help with fraud’
Motor insurance companies are doing all they can to alleviate the impact that fraudsters are having on the rising premiums of honest drivers, according to the British Insurance Brokers Association.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for BIBA, said: “We don?t want innocent people to foot the bill and do all we can to help with that matter.”
The comments come as AA Insurance released figures stating that insurance premiums rocketed in the previous quarter by more than 11 per cent ? the biggest rise since records began.
Mr Trudgill claimed that because insurance quotes are conducted on a risk-based strategy, it is difficult to prevent innocent people being liable to the influence of statistics.
“At the end of the day, there is no other way of helping the victims of fraud,” he said.
The expert was keen to stress, however, that the current broking process remains fair for all motorists, adding that “insurance is fair to people and is very, very specific to the individual”.
