Skoda named ‘best car maker’ at awards

Car maker Skoda has been awarded the top prize at the 2010 Which? awards, being named Best Car Manufacturer.

The accolade was handed to the firm in recognition of its products’ quality, value for money and the high standard of after-sale service offered by the brand.

Peter Vicary-Smith, chief executive of Which?, said that Skoda is a car maker “ideally suited” to the times, as consumers demand more for less.

Editor of Which? Car Richard Headland added: “People might know Skoda as a purveyor of value, but what they might not know is that this brand should be equally recognised for its quality of product, its reliability and its excellent dealer network.”

Honda, Hyundai and Lexus were among the shortlisted manufacturers, but it was Skoda that scooped the prize, with a customer score of 89 per cent.

Vauxhall was also recognised earlier this week, winning the Best New Van award at this year’s Van Fleet World Honours for its redesigned Movano.
