The 7.3-liter engine was overhauled and given an intercooler, fuel injectors and a turbocharger, giving the engine a 250 horsepower rating and producing 505 ft.-lb. of torque. How to Hook Up the Air Supply on a Tractor Trailer

Things You’ll Need:

  • Leather work gloves

    Look for the air line couplers on the tractor and trailer. Two air lines extend from the back of the tractor — one is red and one is blue. Each line has a coupler on the end of it called a glad hand that mates with a corresponding glad hand on the front of the trailer.

  2. 2

    Engage the brakes by pulling out the red brake knob on the dashboard of the tractor. The yellow knob next to it should pop out automatically. If it doesn’t, pull it out manually.

  3. 3

    Check the glad hand seals on the trailer and the tractor.

How to Change a Glow Plug on a Mercedes 300SD

Things You’ll Need:

  • Socket set with extension
  • Mercedes Glow plug socket
  1. 1

    Raise the hood. At the top of the engine block, remove the glow plug cap from the glow plug you wish to replace. Pull the cap up and off the glow plug with your hand.

  2. 2

    Assemble a socket wrench with a deep extension and a Mercedes glow plug socket. Insert the socket onto the top of the glow plug and push down until the socket engages the glow plug.

  3. 3

    Turn the socket counterclockwise to remove the glow plug from the cylinder. The socket has a rubber gasket that will grab and hold the glow plug as you lift it out.

  4. 4

    Insert the new glow plug into the hole in the cylinder by hand.
